Visitation
By Shawn R. Jones
Last night
I saw your image
relaxing in the green
suede chair
legs crossed
barefoot shaking
cigarette in right hand
drink in left-no ice
blue jeans-regular fit
dark jaw tightened
brown eyes fixed
and thin lips parted
by smoke escaping
a ghostly kiss.
It’s brilliant how you were able to vividly describe someone to us with so little words. Every little detail really adds to your poem in such a phenomenal way!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting, Susan!
I picture a loved one who was very comfortable when relaxing in the manner in which you described. Another great work!
Thank you for your encouragement!
This is such a cool piece! As I read this, I felt as though I was getting a glimpse at the person too. Nice!
Thank you!!! Enjoy the holiday!!!
